Hey Everyone, The Murder Mystery Update is still in development. While we wait for the update to debut (Still expected this month) Let’s discuss what else to expect from the update.
Hive may still be developing the biggest update ever according to a staff member but you can’t always take there word for it. But i still think it’s coming this month in a couple weeks.
I have some exciting information though for this update. So read carefully. A potential reason for a longer release is developing multiple modes which hive has basically confirmed since the game is getting a microhub. And so i may know what these modes are as well as it’s LTM.
Double Up
Double Up! is an increased capacity mode of the original Murder Mystery that increases the amount of players per game and doubles the amount of murderers and sheriff’s to two each. Both sheriff’s can drop their bows, and their drop statuses are shown on the scoreboard as "Bow #1" and "Bow #2" while displaying the same bow drop messages when one is killed. A message will notify players in chat when one of the two murderers is killed.
Assassins
Assassins is a target-based ffa mode where everyone has weapons and targets. Each player is given a random identity at the start of each game, which they assume for the rest of the game. After a 15-second countdown, each player is given a knife and a kill contract that lists their target's name, skin, bounty (which is always "dead"), and crime. Each identity has a unique crime assigned to them, and all have the same kill contract format.
Each player's goal is to kill their assigned targets and be one of the last two standing. Along with their target, players can also kill their assassin, who is denoted by a pulsing sound effect and heartbeat right above the hotbar that gets stronger the closer the assassin is. players can get a bow and arrow after collecting 10 coins, but can still throw their knives. Hitting anyone else will stun the attacker for 5 seconds, giving them slowness and removing their weapon for that time.
The game ends when two players remain or when time runs out, in which case all surviving players win. The results message at the end will order the two winners by their kills (Winner #1 will be the survivor with the most kills), while also listing the dead player with the most kills as "Deceased Most Kills".
Alpha Infection
Alpha Infection is a mode involving a host alpha spreading an infection to every player in the game. There are 16 survivors in each game, and after a 15-second countdown, one of these survivors is chosen to be the "Alpha". The Alpha looks like a survivor with their bow and armor, but does not carry arrows and instead carries a knife to attack and infect other survivors. These infected players then respawn and must hunt down remaining survivors, while the survivors shoot their arrows at these infected players in order to not become infected. Infected players can also collect 10 coins for a one-time knife throw.
The game will end when either all survivors are infected, all infected players are eliminated, or when time runs out. The former is a win for the infected players, while the latter two are wins for the survivors.
These modes are based on existing modes on the Hypixel java server which hive usually does but will try to change it to fit there format and style but these are so far what i would expect. One of these could be a LTM but that is unsure information but let’s talk about another former mode from Hypixel that could be coming as the LTM.
Showdown
Showdown is a mode that consists of two teams, Sheriffs and Outlaws, fighting in an effort to get the most kills. Players are equipped with a Bow and Knife to attack the opposing team, with the Bow having no cooldown for shots. Each kill adds to the team's total. Each player who died respawns after 5 seconds. The first team to reach 30 kills or have the most kills when the time runs out wins the game.
This was a game that no longer exists on Hypixel but i see this really being the LTM that there making but i could be wrong.
I also have got some examples of some Challenges to see based on Hypixel’s and some off of a forums suggestion.
Daily:
Winner - Win any game in any mode: 200 XP
Power Play - Kill the Murderer: 200 XP
Grinding - Play 5 games: 200 XP
Money Hungry - Collect 50 coins: 200 XP
Seasonal:
Professional - Kill 40 players in any mode: 1000 XP
Big Winner - Win 15 games in any mode: 500 XP
Bullseye - Nail a knife throw from 30 blocks away: 300 XP
Calculated - Win a game as murderer 100 times: 1000 XP
Catch me if you can - Win a game as innocent 100 times: 5000 XP
Coin Hunter - Pick up 10,000 coins in any mode: 5000 XP
Humiliation - Kill the Sheriff as murderer 15 times: 500 XP
Last Survivor - Be the last survivor 10 times: 100 XP
Quenchy - Drink 10 potions in any game: 100 XP
Where’s my EMP - Kill all players 15 times as murderer: 500 XP
These are based off existing challenges from Hypixel and changed slightly for a hive format. So don’t be surprised to see challenges like this and be adjusted as well. They could probably introduce challenges for the other modes but didn’t bother coming up with any.
Some other things i would not be surprised to see are new maps as well but doubt that is the case for a late release so let’s hope this update comes soon. See you later!
